Greentech company Kanadevia Inova has announced the acquisition of the majority of assets from Denmark’s Babcock & Wilcox A/S (B&W A/S), a subsidiary of Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, Inc. This acquisition aims to strengthen Kanadevia Inova’s presence in the Nordic and European markets by enriching its technology portfolio.
Acquisition Details and Impact
The assets acquired include the Vølund grate technology, along with relevant references and licences that extend globally. This move is expected to bolster Kanadevia Inova Denmark’s workforce, increasing its employee count to over 200 and enhancing service capacity in a market that is characterised by a dense and aging waste infrastructure.
The acquisition also reunites a team that had previously parted ways when Kanadevia Inova acquired the B&W Renewable Service A/S unit in Denmark last year. This synergy is anticipated to enhance support for full plant lifecycle solutions through additional advanced upgrade capabilities.
Future Collaborations
As part of the agreement, both Kanadevia Inova and B&W will explore potential cooperation on future projects involving B&W’s BrightLoop™ chemical looping process. This process is designed to produce low-carbon hydrogen, steam, or syngas while effectively isolating carbon dioxide for capture, storage, or utilization.
Furthermore, Kanadevia Inova and B&W plan to collaborate on greenfield Waste to X plants in the United States and Canada, engaging in project-based cooperation that leverages Kanadevia Inova’s thermal treatment technology alongside B&W’s extensive experience in waste management infrastructure.
