Hi, my name is Pascal Hugo and I am a journalist. I have been covering the topics of the circular economy and waste management for almost 20 years.

After studying political science and history, I took my first steps in my career as a research assistant to a Member of the German Bundestag. When I realised that wasn’t for me, I began my career in journalism as a trainee at EUWID.

There, I quickly took on the Waste-to-Energy section within the recycling editorial team. The market reporting I established there is still regarded as pioneering in the industry today and is cited by market research institutes, governments and other key players.

In 2022, I started my own business and reached an agreement with the DFV Media Group, Europe’s largest B2B specialist publisher, to take over the then ENTSORGA magazine (‘Entsorga’ is a play on the German word ‘Entsorgung’, which translates as waste disposal).

Entsorga was a technical trade journal that had seen better days. With the help of willing supporters at DFV, I renamed the magazine CIRCULAR ECONOMY and transformed it into a business-lifestyle media brand that now covers online, print and social media.

WtE Monitor is the first media project that I have financed and implemented myself. The aim is to create a deep journalism online platform that informs companies in the waste-to-energy sector about market developments, political decisions and technical innovations affecting their day-to-day business. It combines high-quality journalism with proprietary market research, a self-researched knowledge database containing facts and figures on companies, plants and countries, and AI designed to compile the data you need.

WtE Monitor is a start-up. For premium content such as the AI chatbot or company and plant data, you will need a WtE Monitor+ subscription. Further premium content, such as regular market research, is planned for the future.
