The KEZO (Kehrichtverwertungsanlage Zürcher Oberland) in Hinwil is one of Switzerland’s largest and most technologically advanced waste-to-energy plants, operated by the Zweckverband KEZO.

With three incineration lines processing waste from the Zürich Oberland and beyond, the facility delivers significant electricity to the national grid and exports thermal energy to district heating customers. KEZO is also notable for being the host site of the world’s first commercial direct air capture plant (Climeworks), powered by the residual heat of the incineration process.
