Tridel SA in Lausanne is one of Switzerland’s most modern Waste-to-Energy plants, commissioned in 2006 and designed from the outset to maximise energy recovery from the region’s residual waste. The plant is owned by Tridel SA, a public-utility company held by the four Vaud regional waste-management perimeters Gedrel (Lausanne region), Valorsa, Strid and Sadec.
Technical operation is contracted to the City of Lausanne (Service de la propreté urbaine). The two lines together deliver 20 MW of electricity and supply thermal energy to the Lausanne district heating network (approx. 113 km, over 1,300 connected buildings), with an average overall energy efficiency of 61 per cent (2024).
