The Energiezentrale Forsthaus (EZF) in Bern is one of Switzerland’s most complex and innovative energy hubs, combining a waste-to-energy plant (KVA), a heat and power cogeneration plant (HHKW), and a gas-and-steam combined cycle unit (GuD) under one roof.

Operated by Energie Wasser Bern (ewb), it provides a substantial share of the city’s electricity and district heating, making it an essential pillar of Bern’s energy supply and circular economy strategy. With ongoing investment in efficiency and emissions reduction, the EZF is at the forefront of Swiss urban energy transition.
