Enfinium’s Kelvin energy recovery facility is being commissioned on the former Giffords Recycling site off Kelvin Way in West Bromwich, Sandwell, in the West Midlands.

The project, consented on appeal in 2019 and acquired from developer Verus Energy in 2021, reached financial close in November 2021 with Acciona as EPC contractor and represents an investment of more than GBP 500 million. It received its first waste from SUEZ in July 2026 and is expected to enter full operation later in 2026, about a year behind the original schedule.

Designed for up to 395,000 tonnes of residual waste a year and 44 MW gross, the CHP-enabled plant is to supply the planned West Bromwich Heat Network, which received almost GBP 5 million from the Green Heat Network Fund in 2025.
