Encyclis (formerly Covanta Europe) is building the Walsall Energy Recovery Facility on a brownfield site off Fryers Road in Bloxwich, on the northern edge of Walsall in the West Midlands.

The project was originally developed by BH EnergyGap as a two-line gasification scheme and was converted to a conventional single-line moving-grate plant after Encyclis took full ownership and reached financial close in December 2023. It is the first plant wholly owned by Encyclis.

Kanadevia Inova started on-site construction in November 2024 under a turnkey EPC contract. The plant is permitted for 478,300 tonnes of residual household and commercial waste per year (54.6 t/h), will generate up to 49.9 MW of electricity (43.5 MW export) and is designed CHP-ready for a planned district heat network with up to 20 MW of heat. By July 2026 the steam turbine, boiler drum and grate components had been installed, with operation expected in late 2027.
