The Waste-to-Energy plant in Oftringen (Canton of Aargau) is operated by erzo KVA, the municipal association Entsorgung Region Zofingen. Its eleven member municipalities lie in the cantons of Aargau and Lucerne. The plant has a single incineration line, in operation since 1993. This line generates electricity and feeds the regional district heating network. Furthermore, it supplies heat to the adjacent sewage sludge incineration. The plant is due to be replaced by a new 160,000 t/a facility planned together with Renergia Zentralschweiz AG.
