Enfinium has appointed Peter Emery as Chair of the Board, with effect from 1 October 2025. This change follows the departure of Sir Peter Gershon, who served as Chair since the company’s foundation in 2021. The announcement comes after the commencement of operations at the company’s fifth facility in the UK, which has increased total capacity, the company announced.
Peter Emery has been a Non-Executive Director at Enfinium since June 2023 and has over thirty years of senior leadership experience within the UK energy sector. His previous roles include Chief Executive at Electricity North West and executive positions at Drax Group, as well as a two-decade tenure at Esso and ExxonMobil.
At Drax Group, he chaired the White Rose Carbon Capture and Storage project, a partnership with Alstom and Linde. He currently serves as Chair of the Greater Manchester Energy Innovation Agency and holds non-executive roles at Adven and Network Plus.
Expansion of Operational Capacity
Enfinium recently opened its fifth facility at Skelton Grange in Leeds. With this addition, the company’s annual capacity now exceeds 2.7 million tonnes of unrecyclable waste. The five facilities collectively produce power for around 600,000 homes in the United Kingdom.
