UK’s WtE operator Enfinium has entered into a three-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Engie, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services. Under this agreement, Enfinium will supply approximately 390 GWh of electricity annually from 2025 to 2028. This volume of power corresponds to the annual electricity usage of around 140,000 British households.
The electricity will be generated at Enfinium’s new Skelton Grange facility in Leeds, which is scheduled to become operational in the summer of 2025. This marks the first PPA between Enfinium and Engie. Engie plans to deliver this reliable, domestically produced energy to its industrial customers across the UK.

The Skelton Grange facility is expected to play a significant role in decarbonising waste management in West Yorkshire and the wider region. Once operational, the facility will divert up to 410,000 tonnes of unrecyclable waste from landfill each year, reducing emissions from waste disposal.
Supporting Regional Decarbonisation and Economic Growth
In addition to electricity generation, the Aire Valley Heat and Power Network has secured £19.5 million in funding from the Government’s Green Heat Network Fund. This funding will be used to harness waste heat from the Skelton Grange facility, providing reliable and sustainable heating solutions for the region.
The construction of the Skelton Grange site has delivered substantial economic benefits to the local area. More than £500 million has been invested in the development of the facility.
