The Newlincs Energy-from-Waste plant on South Marsh Road in Stallingborough, between Grimsby and Immingham, is one of the smallest municipal waste incinerators in the UK.
It was built by the French contractor Tiru under a 25-year PPP contract signed with North East Lincolnshire Council in 1999 and has operated since 2003 as a single-line plant with an oscillating kiln, a permitted capacity of 60,000 tonnes a year and an electrical capacity of 3.2 MW.
The operating company Newlincs Development Ltd passed from Tiru to Paprec UK Ltd in February 2024, following Paprec’s takeover of Tiru (now Paprec Energies). The plant treats around 51,000-55,000 tonnes a year, mainly household waste from North East and North Lincolnshire, and has not been granted R1 status.
