The Isle of Man’s Energy-from-Waste facility at Richmond Hill in the parish of Braddan, south-west of Douglas, was built and has been operated by Suez (formerly Sita) since 2004 for the Isle of Man Government.

It treats around 50,000 tonnes a year of residual household and commercial waste from across the island, as well as clinical waste from hospitals, old tyres and sewage sludge, and generates about 25,000 MWh of electricity a year, around 10 per cent of the island’s power needs. A visitor and education centre on site receives around 1,000 visitors a year.
